Each year the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce awards a Business, Organization, and Citizen of the Year at the Annual Dinner. Last year, Larry Kernea of Murphy Electric Power Board was our Citizen of the Year. Our 2017 Cherokee County Citizen of the Year, Ann Miller Woodford of Ann’s Tree African American Art, is gaining much deserved notoriety.
So now the question on everyone’s mind… Who will be awarded the 2019 Citizen of the Year at the Annual Dinner Thursday September 26th?
Each year, Mainspring Conservation Trust organizes Hiwassee BigSweep. We invite you to be a part of this SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 21st, 8:30am-12:30pm.
Contact Sara Posey at 46 Valley River Avenue in downtown Murphy and let us know… What’s your favorite way to preserve the beauty of our region?
We welcome new businesses, announce new locations, and celebrate anniversaries with Chamber Members. Ribbon Cuttings are a wonderful opportunity to announce in the Cherokee Scout, share on social media, and invite the business community to learn of all the wonderful things happening at your business or organization.
Murphy is home to many veterans and when someone asked why we didn’t have a Veterans Day parade, Brenda McPherson-Mahoney of Rocking M Retreat felt compelled to make it happen.
We’re giving you plenty of notice to start planning your float, so the only question is, just what will you bake for the cake auction?
