Bi-monthly Saturday Night Dances
Bi-monthly Saturday night dances at the John C. Campbell Folk School, 8-11 pm. Contra and square dances for adults, children, beginners, singles, and couples, with live music and callers from near and far. Visit the John C. Fireside Friday
Second Friday of every month, featuring local writers, poets, and musicians. 5-7 pm. at Curiosity Shop Bookstore.


Folk School Concerts
Folk School Concerts are open to the public. They are scheduled for most (but not all) Friday evenings at 7:30 pm. The public is welcome to enjoy a public display of Folk School student crafts from 6:40-7:00 pm in the Keith House Community Room, where the concerts are held. Free Admission.


Heritage Partners
The Hertiage Partners will meet the 3rd Thursday of each month at Murphy Electric Power Board, 5.00 p.m. Visit www.heritagepartners.org for more information.


Murphy Mornings
Open Saturdays from 10 am- 2pm, April-October in the pocketparks on the corners of Peachtree and Tennessee streets, downtown Murphy, featuring Cedar Valley Farmer's Market; quilters and crafters welcome. For more information call Jeremiah Smith at 828-361-7505.


Murphy Public Library

Music in the Shoppes of Murphy
The 1st Friday of each month, March thru October, a live band performs from 7-10 p.m. The 3rd Friday of each month is Dance Night at the Daily Grind. Other events include wine tastings. For more information contact the Daily Grind at 828-835-7322.

Chautauqua Andrews
Experience Chautauqua Spring Weekend. A great opportunity to experience the performing arts in Cherokee County. There will be entertainment for everyone in the family, including storytellling, historical drama, Appalachian Folk music and Andrews Middle and High School choruses. Bass Fishing Tournament
Tri-County Bass Club and Tri-County Community College Foundation present Fishing for Scholarships 2010 on beautiful Lake Chatuge in Hayesville. Blast Off 7:00 am (around safelight), Weigh In 4:00 pm. The tournament is for two-person teams, artificial lures only, with a limit of five fish per boat. Largemouth, Smallmouth, Shoal, and Spotted Bass will be weighed. Murphy Fourth of July Celebration
Celebrate our nation's birthday with a good old-fashioned hometown celebration! From the 5-K Run to a parade, great food, music, crafters, kids' games and more events than you can shake a stick at. It all starts at 8 am and ends with a spectacular fireworks display at dark. Organized by the Business Women of Cherokee County, Town of Murphy and the Recreation Dept. The event draws thousands of visitors from near and far. Highlights include a fly-over, "Peanut Drop", and greased pig contest and is held in the Konehete Park in downtown Murphy. Shape Note Singing
at the John C. Campbell Folk School from 10 am-3 pm. Originally published in 1866, William Walker's Christian Harmony is the oldest seven shape collection to have remained in continuous use, primarily in Western North Carolina and North Georgia. The Folk School's annual singing draws more than 70 singers from four states. Visitors are welcome to join the singing as well as to bring a covered dish to share for the potluck. 10th Annual Heritage Walk & Festival
